Ashfield Farm Free Lease Agreement

Lessee (Person Leasing Horse):

*unless terminated earlier in accordance with Section 10 of this Agreement.

3. Lease Type and Consideration

This is a free lease. No lease payments are required. Lessee shall be responsible for certain care and maintenance costs as outlined below.

4. Use of Horse

Lessee may use the horse for the following purposes: ☑ Recreational Riding ☑ Lessons ☑ Showing (specify disciplines): Any

Horse shall not be used for breeding.

5. Care and Maintenance

Lessee agrees to provide or arrange for:

  • Daily feed and water

  • Regular grooming and exercise

  • Veterinary care, including vaccinations, deworming and dental

  • Farrier services (e.g., trimming/shoeing)

  • Boarding at: Lilac Lane (must be approved by Lessor)

Lessor retains the right to inspect the horse and boarding facility upon reasonable notice and and determine if said horse is being properly cared for and in good health.

6. Expenses

All tack, equipment & blankets are the Lessee's responsibility.

7. Ownership and Transfer

Lessor retains all ownership rights to the horse. Lessee shall not sell, lease, or transfer the horse to any third party.

8. Risk and Liability

Lessee assumes all risk of loss, injury, or damage resulting from use or possession of the horse. Lessee is encouraged to obtain equine liability insurance.

9. Indemnification

Lessee agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Lessor from any and all claims arising out of the use, care, or handling of the horse during the lease period.

10. Termination

This lease may be terminated by either party with 14 days written notice. Upon termination, Lessee shall return the horse to the Lessor in good condition and health, up to date on trimming, deworming and vaccinations.

11. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the province of Ontario.

12. Entire Agreement

This Agreement contains the entire understanding between the parties and may only be modified in writing signed by both parties.

The undersigned Lessor and Lessee accept the terms and conditions of this lease and acknowledge a copy thereof.
